Hey, Hi there! It's been awhile since any of us have posted...my bad. How are you all doin'? I just had my 3 month check back with the cardiologist. I've officially lost 5 more pounds! I'm slowly getting toward the first goal. I've very excited and encouraged. My blood pressure was right on the money, he said that he couldn't ask for anything better! Still working on cholesterol and blood sugar levels. But hey, like I've said I'm encouraged. So I'm having my salad for lunch again today. Trying not to eat too much junk and having a glass of ice water in the evening instead of bad snacks.
Josh is trying to get both dad and I to eat better and snack less. He's even trying to introduce us to Almond milk. I might try it, But dad flat out said NO! Summer berries have been yummy on all occasions. Josh also has a huge George Forman grill on the kitchen counter and has been introducing us to a better way of grilling with less fat.
A friend of mine suggested I read a book titled "The Mayo Clinic Diabetes Diet". So I checked it out at the library to see if it was any good. So far so good. Lots of great pictures, lots of color and inviting information on each page. I'm only a few chapters into it and it's an easy read. I may end up buying it. My friend is not diabetic nor anyone in her immediate family. She is one who is always looking for a better way to eat and to instill good eating habits in her kids. She teaches (about 5 hours per week) some sort of exercise class (palates? maybe?) Anyway, she has been a good resource for me and so I wanted to share this book with you as something that might be helpful. She says that there is a lot of just good, plain, sensible information regarding being healthy in it.
OK then, back to my salad...and a handful of Cheetos for dessert????? ha-ha-ha Love Ya!
I AM finding the book most helpful. I think I will buy it for my library.
